Dornier back

Back to 2006 the connections between Madeira and Porto Santo islands were done by four dornier 228, untill SATA take place and started operating with a DHC8 Q200. Now, after 8 years the contract ends and the dorniers come back. They will enter in operation in January. Today arrived one of the two dorniers, the other one will arrive probably in January. Aerovip will be doing six daily flights to Porto Santo from now on to may, when there will be a contest to determine the next operator to guarantee the connection between the islands, probably will be Portugália.

Amazing takeoff by Monarch!

Yesterday morning I was at the airport, and this A321 from Monarch, with a gorgeous tail would be taking off shortly from runway 23. It accelarated and took off. Firstly it looked like a normal takeoff, but suddenly he climbed in a step angle and turned left very soon, giving me the opportunity to catch these photos:

Friendly F/O!

I had just arrived at the balcony of the airport terminal, and had this Easyjet in front of me, when a friend of mine, who is a spotter said that the flight officer of that plane was portuguese! Soon after that we waved for us! :)

Bons voos José Almeida Borges, ficam aqui as fotos da tua descolagem, podes utilizá-las à vontade, e obrigado pelos acenos! :D

Windavia - Fly Like the Wind

A new portuguese charter has started operations last week, it's called ''Windavia'' and runs with a small fleet of just two A320, one of them visited the island this tuesday, with the registration YL-LCL! This charter company is a subsidiare of White Airways and will be operating for many destinations, with three bases: Funchal, Lisbon and Paris.
I photographed the takeoff, and here are the photos. Saddly he departed a few minutes delayed, and the sun had already gone...
